Ulanova says a dancer must learn to express thoughts in movement so convincingly that movements are like words and dancing is expressive as speech. If you ask her how to achieve this, she smiles and tells you there’s no formula for creating beauty. It’s necessary to to keep searching and always working….
Yes, that’s what she stresses most of all- work. She keeps telling me, ‘work,work,work. Without work, there is nothing.’
